Just me

Still struggling to create an artistic identity for myself, this work is a summary of who I am as a person. From the Chinese ink blotted on my handmade paper to the hijab pins I used to pin them up, I think this a close representation of who I am.

Just me

Being a young budding artist, there are a lot of times where I am being questioned on my identity and place in creating. Feeling confused, I decided to go back to what I love to do the most and that is handmade works. Making the papers from scratch was a therapeutic but arduous process and yet it still brings myself joy in art making. The Chinese ink used is like a little homage to my Hakka ancestry while it is being hung up by the hijab pins that I wear now. All in all, I think this is a simple yet close representation of who I am as both an artist and a person.
